Let’s learn how to draw Minato Aqua from hololive 2nd Generation today!
Minato Aqua (湊あくあ) is a Japanese Virtual YouTuber associated with hololive, as part of the Hololive 2nd Generation. She is a marine maid.
Aqua is a cute airhead maid who likes to prank her friends. However, it almost always backfires due to the combination of her less than desirable luck and lack of preparations. She is also childish and prone to throwing tantrums, smashing her keyboard, and hyperventilating when things don’t go as planned. Although she appears as an incompetent crybaby, sometimes awkward and clumsy, according to other hololive members, Aqua is kind and responsible but extremely introverted while off-camera, only opening up while streaming. She is also extremely resilient and will stop at nothing to reach her goal, especially in gaming.
Despite her name and appearance, she has nothing to do with water. She wears a marine-themed maid uniform and a white mob cap decorated with an anchor. Her hair is purple with a few streaks of light-blue hair in her bangs and the inner edge of her ponytails. She wears two large braids, with the two small braids on each side of her bangs.
She is deceptively skilled at highly technical video games like Sekiro, Dark Souls,… and loves to play competitive PVP games. Her fanbase is officially called Aqua Crew (あくあクルー). Her fans call her AMT (Aqua Maji Tenshi) or “Baqua” (ばくあ). Because of her tendency to play games alone, fans often call her Sololive. Her representative emote is an anchor due to her marine theme and anchors on her dress. She is really close to Kagura Mea, who has done a lot of collaborations with Aqua, with their pairing being known as “Meaqua” (稱めあくあ).
Step 1
As always all the blue and green lines are just construction lines and will be erased later so do not push on your pencil too much ^_^ I will try to be super efficient with the text so will only describe steps that require some explanation.
Make sure to leave enough free space on paper for next steps. You can see how much space you will need from the size of the paper on this picture.

Step 7

Step 8

Step 9
Lighten all the construction lines by “stamping” the kneaded eraser on the paper. Make sure to refer to the picture bellow as you need to ink only some parts of the construction lines.

Step 10
Wait till the ink is nice and dry and erase all the construction lines.

Step 11
To add colors, make sure to sketch the color outlines with the right color or pencil first.
If your goal is to become a real Mangaka and design your own manga characters make sure to try to draw Minato Aqua from memory several times. Always compare the drawing to the original and correct any mistakes you see. Do this till you are happy with the result. It doesn’t have to look exactly the same, don’t sweat the details. The point is that you get the main shapes right and that it looks good. This is the best way to build a huge library of manga shapes in your memory that you can use to draw and design your own manga characters ^-^.
Draw with passion! ^_^
