Let’s learn how to draw Zest from Shinmai Maou no Testament today!
Zest (ゼスト) is the former secondary antagonist of the first season of The Testament of Sister New Devil series. She is a Demon who lives in the Demon World and originally served her creator, the Demon marquis Zolgear. Zest was created to be his aide and guard, and was apparently made only for that purpose as she was created in a way that she’d lose all her powers the moment she lost her virginity, in contrast to all other girls in Zolgear’s collection. Zolgear had created her as an reflection of his perverted tastes. She was the product of her master using forbidden magic in an effort to bring his lover back from the dead.
Zest is a beautiful, young woman with a slim yet shapely figure. She has tanned skin and white hair. Her eyes are golden-greenish color. She has a rabbit tail and rabbit-ear-shaped horns. In her human form she has neither of these. She wears battle attire, that consists of a tight black dress that reveals her middle chest, black shoulder pads and gold lining, white stockings, and black long boots that have golden lining.
Zest is known to be fiercely loyal to her master. Cold and calculating, she never goes against her master’s wishes. Being cold, nonetheless, it doesn’t mean that she doesn’t have the capacity of having and feeling emotions. She also does not practice blind obedience and would advise her master should she feels that her master’s decisions would result in undesirable consequences. It appears that she has a complex and constantly wonders whether she is useful enough to her master. She is also revealed to have a humble and meek personality when she is not fighting her master’s enemies.
Thanks a lot to Stewart Niven for request. ^_^
Step 1
As always all the blue and green lines are just construction lines and will be erased later so do not push on your pencil too much ^_^ I will try to be super efficient with the text so will only describe steps that require some explanation.
Make sure to leave enough free space on paper for next steps. You can see how much space you will need from the size of the paper on this picture.
Step 2
Step 3
Step 4
Step 5
Step 6
Step 7
Step 8
Step 9
Lighten all the construction lines by “stamping” the kneaded eraser on the paper. Make sure to refer to the picture bellow as you need to ink only some parts of the construction lines.
Step 10
Wait till the ink is nice and dry and erase all the construction lines.
Step 11
To add colors, make sure to sketch the color outlines with the right color or pencil first.
If your goal is to become a real Mangaka and design your own manga characters make sure to try to draw Zest from memory several times. Always compare the drawing to the original and correct any mistakes you see. Do this till you are happy with the result. It doesn’t have to look exactly the same, don’t sweat the details. The point is that you get the main shapes right and that it looks good. This is the best way to build a huge library of manga shapes in your memory that you can use to draw and design your own manga characters ^_-.
Draw with passion! ^_^
