Let’s learn how to draw Basara Toujou from Shinmai Maou no Testament today!
Basara Toujou (東城 刃更 Tōjō Basara) is one of the main characters of The Testament of Sister New Devil series. He is an ex-member of the Hero Clan. After a terrible incident where his unique power went out of control, he left along with his father. Basara is the biological son of the “God of War”, Jin Toujou and the sister of the previous Demon Lord, Sapphire. However, he was delivered by Raphaeline, a member of the Ten Gods. Basara was raised by Jin within the Hero Clan, where he was viewed as a genius from a young age during his training with the other children. Now he lives with his two step sisters who are both Demons.
At the start of the series, Basara is a tall, handsome and slim fifteen-year-old boy, but later he is taller, more muscular with big burly build and arms. He has unkempt brown hair jutting in all directions and light green eyes. He also has scars that cover most of his body. He often wears his school uniform in Hijirigasaka Academy or casual clothes, when outside of school.
At first, Basara has shown to be a rather laid-back and collected young man who has been noted to be almost like a normal teenager. Because of the incident six-years prior in the Hero Clan, he suffers from a number of nightmares and fears about using his powers. He has a strong belief in family, protecting those close to him no matter the cost. Similar to his father, he’ll even fight against the heroes and gods if it means protecting his loved ones. Basara has also shown to be calm and analytical using whatever means possible to make a situation go into their favor. However, Basara also has a hidden sadistic side to himself.
Thanks a lot to Hritwik Dey for request. ^_^
Step 1
As always all the blue and green lines are just construction lines and will be erased later so do not push on your pencil too much ^_^ I will try to be super efficient with the text so will only describe steps that require some explanation.
Make sure to leave enough free space on paper for next steps. You can see how much space you will need from the size of the paper on this picture.
Step 2
Step 3
Step 4
Step 5
Step 6
Step 7
Step 8
Step 9
Lighten all the construction lines by “stamping” the kneaded eraser on the paper. Make sure to refer to the picture bellow as you need to ink only some parts of the construction lines.
Step 10
Wait till the ink is nice and dry and erase all the construction lines.
Step 11
To add colors, make sure to sketch the color outlines with the right color or pencil first.
If your goal is to become a real Mangaka and design your own manga characters make sure to try to draw Basara Toujou from memory several times. Always compare the drawing to the original and correct any mistakes you see. Do this till you are happy with the result. It doesn’t have to look exactly the same, don’t sweat the details. The point is that you get the main shapes right and that it looks good. This is the best way to build a huge library of manga shapes in your memory that you can use to draw and design your own manga characters ^_-.
Draw with passion! ^_^
