Let’s learn how to draw Kenichi Shirahama from Strongest today!
Kenichi Shirahama (白浜 兼一 Shirahama Ken’ichi) is the main protagonist of Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple (Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi). He is a second year student at Kōryō High School. He is the Disciple of the six masters of Ryōzanpaku, studying martial arts from them. He loves gardening and reading books. Though he’s constantly considered cowardly at the beginning of the series, and stated that he has no talent for martial arts with the abnormally intense training regime, he is able to fight and defeat opponents with many years worth of skill as well as some with borderline superhuman abilities. His goal is to not only get stronger, but to ultimately gain the strength and courage needed to protect the people and values that are most important to him. He continuously grows more brave and confident in himself to the point he now rushes into any form of danger without a second thought.
Kenichi is kind, compassionate, thoughtful, good-natured, timid, polite, selfless and moral to a fault. He always puts others before himself, even when it comes to his enemies. He shows them respect and even cares about the enemy’s health and always tries to help them. As a result of his kindness Kenichi has made many friends some of whom are former enemies. Kenichi tends to think logically. He also adheres to a strict code of morals and refuses to kill or hit women even if it means death. In spite of his strong moral standards however Kenichi can be quite perverted.
Kenichi is known for being somewhat attractive by numerous girls his age throughout the series due to his strength, bravery, and kind heart. Kenichi is a young man of average height. In the beginning, he was thin and somewhat scrawny and frail. After his continuous training with his masters, Kenichi’s physique has become lean yet well-muscled and defined all-around body. He has medium length spiky brown hair in the back and some hanging in the front on the sides. His eyes are brown and he constantly wears the band aid under his left eye. He usually wears his long sleeved blue school uniform with the Yin Yang badge. When not in school or training, for casual wear, he’s seen in jeans and a plain shirt with stripes.
Thanks a lot to Kyle Brown for request. ^_^
Step 1
As always all the blue and green lines are just construction lines and will be erased later so do not push on your pencil too much ^_^ I will try to be super efficient with the text so will only describe steps that require some explanation.
Make sure to leave enough free space on paper for next steps. You can see how much space you will need from the size of the paper on this picture.

Step 3
Step 4
Step 5
Step 6
Step 7
Step 8
Step 9
Lighten all the construction lines by “stamping” the kneaded eraser on the paper. Make sure to refer to the picture bellow as you need to ink only some parts of the construction lines.
Step 10
Wait till the ink is nice and dry and erase all the construction lines.
Step 11
To add colors, make sure to sketch the color outlines with the right color or pencil first.
If your goal is to become a real Mangaka and design your own manga characters make sure to try to draw Kenichi Shirahama from memory several times. Always compare the drawing to the original and correct any mistakes you see. Do this till you are happy with the result. It doesn’t have to look exactly the same, don’t sweat the details. The point is that you get the main shapes right and that it looks good. This is the best way to build a huge library of manga shapes in your memory that you can use to draw and design your own manga characters ^_-.
Draw with passion! ^_^
